In my younger years, Khalil Gibran, The Prophet, was never too far away from my daily reading. Your Choka in words and presentation serves his quote well. A warrior's passion is driven by and for his loved ones.
Best wishes,
Mary

Thank you for sharing this poem with us. Yes, often between us we have raging battles, but God has given us the Holy Spirit to help us work those battles out. I enjoyed reading.

Hi Gypsy Queen,
you've hit on two of my favorite things... the Samurai and Khalil Gibran. Last night I watch a Samurai movie on TV... I had watched it before several times, but I couldn't help but watching it again. In Subtitle, The Thirteen Assassins. There was a Samurai marathon, but I only stayed up to watch one. I love the nature and the honour and integrity that goes all the way to death before dishonour. In my other life, part of my Martial Arts training was with the katana sword after I had reached a certain level of skill. I really enjoyed that part of my life... it gave me stability and focus.
So, obviously this poem is going to gel with me just from the title and subject.
I have read the words, absorbed them and have acknowledged the skill in which you have subtly substituted roles.
Alone and wounded,
melocollic thoughts linger
over armor scraps,... I love that!
But I also as passion's cinders
plunge my raging heart afar
when blood runs red where I stand.
That last line spells commitment... stunning
So really... it's the whole of the poem I really like:)
Your presentation and delivery is, as per usual... picture perfect... word wonderful... and a rich rounded composition.
Love that quote... why would we rage upon ourselves? Yet I know we do, I know I do. We should be the person that we are and wear the scars of our battlefields with a knowing of absolute to our intent and attitude toward forming self love... the fire that drives us... the ballast of our soul.
With our thoughts we create...
floating embers.
Kindest regards,
James.

James,
Thank you for your exceptional six stars review and insightful feedback. Your reviews never disappoint.
I love samurai movies. "Lone Wolf and Cub" is my favorite. I love Japanese culture in general, katana is my favorite sword. Do you watch The Walking Dead? It may not show in Australia. It's an American horror series. One of the characters is a bad ass woman warrior named, Michonne. She has a katana and knows how to use it. I owned one but lost it in one of my many moves.
I love Khalil Gibran too. My favorite book, The Prophet. Am I surprise we share more things? No.
.
I like how you change your ending quote in accordance with the poem.

Another fine poem, Gypsy---I call it fighting the daily war, the constant struggle to keep your head above water in the currents of life and to a smaller extent the fire hose of negativity blasted from the media--please don't hold the lameness of my words against me, I try to not review anything after about two and you can clearly see why!

Hi Gypsy, your poem has vivid imagery and good sensory appeal. The heart of a warrior if fierce, yet tender, as illustrated in your poem. At the end of the day, we are all people who just want to go home to our families.
Of special note:
melancholic thoughts linger
over armor scraps,
fighting to keep memories
(But the Warrior must go on)
Great photo choice. Well done. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

Your poem illustrates the Khalil Gibran quote well. It shows us the passion that drives a warrior as they remember their loved ones and the reasons for the battle.
