I like you poem- good presentation- poor girl very young to lose her mother- sad- death and dying transitions- steps of grief - much more difficult for children in most cases - life can be cruel- good poem

Hi Gypsy, soulful writing. I can feel the saddened emotions of a child as she yearns, yet mourns, her mother. A parent should never have to bury a child, and a child should never have to bury a parent. Life is not fair. Well done.

Gypsy,
One can sense the feeling that your photo and verse give us in thinking of our lost loved ones. The Senryu format is ideal for the thought you imparted.

How very sad. It hits home as I was seven and I did the same thing trying to smell the clothing that was my mother's and hugging the few baby clothes she had collected.
A very poignant and heartfelt poem.
Best wishes,
Mary

This is powerful Gypsy. Reminds me of a personal episode with my grandmother's quilt... this verse will capture the imagination of each of your readers as they remember a similar situation. So well done.

It's pretty tragic when a parent dies if the child is very young, it would be devastating in fact. It's bad enough as an adult, but when very young, I know how much the girls love their mum. Beautifully written Gypsy blessing Roy

This makes me feel so sad. I think of you holding on to whatever clothing item that belonged to your mom after she passed when you were so young. Those scents inspired such yearning!

Yes, I remember doing it. I would stay in her room smelling her clothes and sheets because I missed her so much. I was mama's girl. I was ten when she died.
Thank you very much, Helen. I appreciate your time and excellent review. Blessings.
