I'm not a child but I still learn by repetition. It really is the way to learn. A great offering for your daily poetry challenge.
Sending you my best today as always,

That is really good, Debra, repitition is the key to learning, and it never changes. Well done, my friend. I've some catching up to do, sorry about that. :( Sandra xxx

I give you credit, mom of three -
how you find the time to be
an inspiration to your tribe
and yet a master when you scribe!
Your verse is flawless - so much fun!
I'd say you challenge anyone
with all you do, with such finesse.
I'm sure our Father, you must bless.

Comment from Gloria ....
Oh yea, this definitely has a catchy beat, and it is the kind of poem I can totally relate to.
Excellent idea to combine the ABCs with the 123s, for great rhythm and rhyme.
Great contribution to your NaPo book, Debra. :)

This is a fine children's poem. That's the key part of childhood - repetition. Little kids are immune to repetition. Adults tire quickly but kids find security in it and they can laugh at the same joke over and over!

OK--here's the big high-five! Another cute phonics ditty--clever device to repeat the word repetition! I doubt the kiddies would pick up on that but I am amused.

Debra, this is oh so true. We used to teach by rote and kids remembered things. When I was in college, too long ago to say, I did an independent study on memory. The three Rs were recognition, recall and repetition. The more the repetition, the better the recall. Too bad the public schools have forgotten that lesson. Your poem is delightful.

Thank you so much, Susan :) It does work...! Times tables especially when learned by rote really do stick. Your study sounds very interesting.
Best wishes, Debra :)

Debra,
Absolutely. Repetition until their eyeballs fall out and their tongues wag the words all by themselves without even engaging the brain anymore. hahaha A fun poem for any child. Thanks!
