This is very well written and it flows very well when it is read aloud I've very much enjoyed listening to it. I miss the days when we got Naill mail from our family friends. I never was much fun to do a lot of writing but now that I no longer have good vision I can no longer read a snail mail letter from anyone it has to be read to me because I cannot see to read it. The only reason I can stay on the fan story is because I do have backlighting on my iPad and it helps me to be able to read. In this day when we have digital communications. It frustrates me that people will write two words or they'll send you an emoji and they don't write anything that just frustrates me to know and because I am a person who likes to write and share my thoughts with people through the written word. Thank you for sharing this because it is a real blessing to me and I'm sure it is to others as well. Patricia.

Yes, I'm just coming off eye surgery recovery, myself, so I can understand the frustration you are experiencing very well.

When people write "ur" rather than "your" or "thx" rather than "thanks," I give them a big smile and ask, "Hey, what do you do with all that time you save by writing "thx" rather than "thanks?" It's just beyond ridiculous.

Anyway, thank you for this very nice review. I appreciate it. xoxo

The world seemingly moves too fast these days and patience is a lost art, thus one and two does not equate to rational behavior that letter writing used to allow. Thanks for sharing.

Superb! What an uplifting, emotional and amazing recall of times when I too would write letters to where ever and watch for the return. It was like getting a present every second work. I love yourself writing. It's so precise and yet gives enough description for the story to play out in my head beautiful scene.Sad part is the young man passing away. It doesn't take away from the quality of this work so excellent job.I'm rightly impressed!

Thank you times a million zillion. I really appreciate this. I was worried when I first wrote it that it was "too much." So this makes me feel better. xoxxo

Fabulous!
I might be biased, offering the sixth star for selfish reasoning, but I don't think so. Your post deserved it.
What I mean is that I was a mailman for 12 years (Postal clerk, carrier, supv, then retired as Postmaster). Every mailman knew their customers were who wrote (and received letters). They were our favorites. We paid special attention that their mail stayed dry, and made certain that letter mail was placed in box atop magazine and flyers (to help ensure they were not left in the box when the 'flats' were withdrawn).
We watched with dismay as letter writers became fewer and fewer.
You're right about email and texts. I think that the time taken to write a letter is time spent in deeper thought concerning exactly what is communicated. I know that it takes a certain length of time to write several pages. And I also know that the writer is thinking of me/us just about the entire time.
Sure beats a 2 second text.
Best wishes always.

I did not know this about you! And I also didn't know about the manner in which letters are placed on top and the reasoning behind it! Thank you for your service all those years, and thank you, as well, for this really REALLY nice review. xoxox

Excellent writing. I believe in small mail. Too often now people send virtual wishes, even condolences. I've gone out of my way to send stamped mail and ocaisionally, small packages. I enjoyed your non fiction essay. Alex

This is so weird, but I was thinking about you JUST THIS AFTERNOON! I hadn't seen anything by you recently, so this is a very nice surprise.

Thank you for your understanding and encouraging review. Very much appreciated. xoxox

Thank you! You've made my day! Since Aprril we've had a pet pass away and have welcomed a shelter cat and dog. I've been writing stories and self publishing a little but I fell out of my fan story habit. I've now written a few you may begin to see. I hope your new year will bring only good things! Alex xoxoxo

Thank you! Thank you! Yes it was an unexpected stroke (?) NEVER KNEW cats can have strokes. Soon after, we adopted a 10lb tabby perfect polite sweetheart, male cat, Ali. Then, after 8 years without our small Yorkie, we were attracted to adopt a pretty big boxer mix girl of 8yo, Neda.

We've had to plan safe spaces in our home etc Thank God we have room. Slowly, there's no hissing and the dog isn't chasing at all. On Christmas Eve, we were sitting on the couch eating and noticed the cat was by my side and the dog was by my husband's all squished near each other. Success! ;)

Thank you for asking. How are you?

    Nice to hear from you,

    Alex xoxo

Oh, YESSSSSS!!! That was QUICK!! Animals (and children) always gravitate to the warmest spot in the house, so that says volumes for you!

I love Boxers. At the dog park, where I take our 15-month-old Bernadoodle, the Boxers are always so very full of life.

    And a TEN-POUND CAT??? Oy!!!!!

Well, I'm glad they're filling your heart up. May you have many, many years together with them. xoxo

Really good story, but I got confused, you stated in your header that this was general fiction, yet it reads true, and I see that you are entering a Non fiction contest. Just saying... Don.
