Your mom taught you a valuable lesson. Most people will agree that dishes and drinks that include lemons can be very tasty and even healthy, but just ask yourself, why is it that a car that never seems to work like it should is called a lemon? Hmmm. Does that not make you wonder?

Ah!, the much-maligned lemon must weather the scorn of the unappreciative. Even automobiles can be dissed by calling them lemons. I personally would not enjoy life as much if I couldn't squeeze some sour in my sweet... John

Awe, Tom I knew this one would sweeten us both up. Or the opposite. Lol. Yes, I inherited everything from my mother. She was known as the teacher who could take a lemon and make it squeak with sweetness by the end of the year. However, she could be tough too, sometimes I walk past a mirror and I will stop and look and say, 'mom, is that you?' We also looked alike. She was also the reason that Oprah made acts of kindness for teachers, a real part of her goals for people. I thank you so much for your very kind review and words for my lemon poem. lemons are great whichever way they are used .You can make sweet lemonade to refresh you after a hard work.You can drink unsweetened lime juice to regulate the pf or as a cleanser first thing in the morning .A dash of lime in the salads !
I love lemons .A trite saying about lemons..'when life gives you lemons make lemonade!"

You choose lemon as a subject in your poem. Lemons represent different characters of human beings.
Be careful how to deal with people. Don't let their appearance fool you.

I developed the love of lemon after seeing so many lemon trees in Italy in our last trip there. They are so beautiful and taste wonderful, too. The language is simple and the rhyme scheme is consistent, creating a soothing and peaceful atmosphere.

Good lemons make things much better...like squeezed on sea food, or on sliced apples to maintain their color, or lemon meringue pie, to name a few things. Then, have you ever had a beautiful lemon that when cut open it's dried out inside? Now you have me thinking of all the ways I use lemon, like in hot tea. I love this analogy of lemons and life. Just like a faulty car is called a lemon, there are rotten lemon people. Thanks for these thoughts and the message of your poem..

Hi Debi,
This is a well written poem using the lemon as a metaphor for the good and bad sides of life. You can look at either side, but, being positive is the best way to live. Your mother was a smart woman who gave good advice to you.
