What a powerful reminder of reality. The cost of sin. Undoubtedly, the greatest betrayal of all time. And, how did He respond? He came down, gave His life, and saved us all again. And, still there are doubters? What will it take to make some people believe?

Great review, Bob. My answer to your question: When they realize that God believes in them, doubts and all. It is in our "doubts" that makes our faith stronger. And thanks for the six!! -Bill

The unfortunate thing about betrayal, it's always by someone one trusts, otherwise it's simply dissenters. My Waterloo moment in my Christian was by a friend, it took me to the brink, I even blamed God, but it was never His fault, He simply allowed, but it developed my trust in God, My knowledge of trusting in Him, and accelerated my seeking of wisdom, my success in writing is due to that watershed moment, one can only be betrayed by a trusted friend. So beautifully written Bill, blessings Roy

Bill, This is a really great betrayal poem you have penned for the contest. This was the ultimate betrayal of One who did not deserve it at all. All He did was good. Best wishes in the contest. Teri

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. I read a different entry for this contest this morning and that poet chose the same subject for this betrayal contest. Yes, the betrayal of Jesus is the ultimate betrayal. Peter ended up doing great things for the church. I want to wish you the best of luck with the contest.

This is a very beautiful written poem, a timely poem as well with the coming of the Easter season we can know that our Lord was betrayed and that he did suffer on that cross of Calvary, but we also know that after he was put in the grave three days later, he was to rise to eternal life and walked among men for 50 days before God took him into heaven to be with him. Patricia.

Being betrayed by someone who is thought of as a good friend is very hurtful and all the trust leaves in an instant. It has happened to me during my life and forgiving is not always easy. I enjoyed the sentiment here William, love Dolly x

Your poem is deeply moving! The way you connect Jesus suffering to personal struggles makes it feel so real. The line "Could he trust his faith?" is perfect. I really love the way you tie it all together at the end!
This is a heartfelt read!

Comment from Rhonda Hiser
Beautiful presentation of an age old conflict between faith, man and betrayal. The fact that the man is conflicted by being betrayed by his friends and others gave him the determination to find the courage to believe in faith, but then you realistically placed doubt in faith. Very well done. I can see this poem being presented as part of an Easter program. Just my opinion. Take care.
