An excellent entry for the A poem About a Man contest. What a lovely tribute to your father. He sounds like my own dad. He could be tough and expecting but only for my own good and growth. He was loving and attentive. You were blessed. Thanks for sharing

Exactly. I raised my child the same way because I like the job he did. Thank you for the validation, Marilyn. xoxo

Your poem is such a beautiful tribute to your dad! It is so heartfelt. And so beautifully written! Your words carry so much warmth. And that last stanza hit hard - it's so full of love. I have no doubt he would be incredibly proud of you!

What a wonderful person your dad had been and he commitment for you could not be denied
So few pops would do so much and in turn just like your friend from last week taught you guiding principals

Yes, you're right. I met Ann (my friend from last week) when my father was dying from cancer. There's no way that was a coincidence. The higher powers knew I would not be okay without Daddy, so Ann was bestowed upon my life.

Thank you for this review, which touched me very much. xoxo

Rachelle,

A very nice tribute to your beloved Dad. I played the accordion for 2-3 years before I was a teen, but had no talent to continue. Neither of my parents had any musical background. But just as you described they inspired me too!

Nice family memories you shared with us.

Mark

The accordion fascinates me, but I've never tried it. Thank you for this fun review. xo

What a nice tribute to your father! I'm sure he's still very proud of you. It sounds like he held you to high standards, and had a very good understanding of your capabilities. You're fortunate to have enjoyed his presence and wisdom. Blessings. Carol

This is so touching Rachelle that I am so glad that I have a six for you. Your words are well rhymed and metered, but most of all they are truthful, honest and from the heart, I do believe you have a steely strength in you and that you do recognise fair play and integrity. A fine write, much enjoyed, love Dolly x x x

I love this gift to your father's memory. He sounds like a wonderful dad. I loved my father like you do, and I miss his voice in my ear, for he's been in heaven for 33 years, but I still hear him in my heart.

Mine's been gone forty-three. He held on for the birth of my daughter, though. He was responsible and conscientious even in the final stages of lung cancer. That's the way dads were built back then.

Thank you for the understanding and affirming review. It means a lot to me. xoxox

We inherit the physical features of the generations before us, but who we really are comes from time spent with parents and siblings. I think all those hours in the car with your daddy helped to mold the person that you are; it sounds like a "mini-me" of your pops.

I'm sorry you lost him, but I'm so happy that you have him living inside your heart, for it manifests itself in your life every day.

Of course, he's proud of you still, and he'd be touched by this sweet poem. Don't you agree?

Thanks for sharing your dad with us, Rachelle.

xoxo

I was eight months pregnant last time I saw him. I visited him in the hospital in Reno, where he and my mother had moved to retire. Before I left for the airport to return home, I gave him a four-page letter telling him why I adored him so and how much I appreciated all he'd bestowed in the way of my positive personality traits. My mother said it made him cry, and he told her, "This touches me very much." He died two weeks later, having hung on until Leah was born. *sighhh*

Thank you for your beautiful review, Pam.

A lovely tribute to your father Rachael. Having grown up without a father, I envy you and your relationship with him.
I wish more children grew up with that love and devotion.

Blessings
Janet.
