I remember as a boy longing for a life at sea, but I was in love with the danger that seas afford to those foolish enough to embrace the "adventure", I never did "go to sea" the closest I came was rowing a a boat on the local river. (A bit more than that really) a beautifully written Lauranelle Yvonne, a version of the villanelle. Well done, a great job, blessings Roy

This is a well written poem of men and the sea.
You give your reader a picture of these old salts and the sea.
I enjoyed the read.
Good luck in the contest.
Regards
Mary

A life well-lived can only be decided by the one living it. My father was a simple man, but he had the crust of experience. I would have the same respect for the subject of your poem as I have for my dear departed dad...Great work!! ...John

Good luck in the FUN! FUN! FUN! writing prompt entry, Yvonne. This was so very true to read. I loved the rhyme pattern and the picture was perfect. Your words were fun to read but they still maintained a depth of truth. It seems once caught by the sea/ocean one never turns back-grumbles a lot but never gives it up. Well done.

A very humming poem. I see the explanation of its form and truth be told I do not understand it. However, you seem to and in doing so have rendered a lovely poem.

Yvonne,
hahahaha This was fun, indeed. Grumble, grumble, grumble. And yet, he'd do it all again. That sounds like a lot of the old men I know. hahaha I enjoyed this a lot - I'm smiling right now. haha

It is a joy to read a skilfully written poem with great rhymes and metre, whatever you did to the form did not spoil the flow and your subject matter is interesting, a hard life can be fruitful, much enjoyed, love Dolly x
