This isn't really in an ode form; these are rhymed couplets in a regular meter. Odes are in a more narrative format, often rhyme less, more like a conversation with yourself. However, the images are bright, colorful, the meter is upbeat, framing the theme, it is in that pastoral romantic celebration of nature that was the theme of so many classic odes. I would read Coleridge's Frost at Midnight, Wordsworth's Tintern Abbey, or Keats' masterpiece, Ode on a Grecian Urn to get a sense of the form and the style possibilities of the ode form. estory

True, this is not a TRUE Ode, but the prompt gave no specific directions. Nevertheless, I appreciate your taking the time to comment and make suggestions. Rod

A lovely, fresh and charmingly metered and rhymed ode to spring. Your verse is uplifting, with instant appeal, my favourite stanza for imagery and fun -#4. Well done and good luck! Debbie

What an uplifting poem to cheer us up in these times - A picture of Spring with its vibrant colors and its 'balmy' breezes - a wonderful 'season of rebirth.'

A lovely Ode to Spring. It is a welcome time of the year when there is rebirth of plants and flowers and trees all around us. I love it when the grass starts to turn green. Spring definitely brings joyfulness back into our lives.

Blessings

What a lovely ode to my favorite time of year. Spring is indeed a season of rebirth. Petals pink, saucy flowers and ivory butterflies bedazzled us after a cold grey winter. Beautiful sentiments. Well done!

This is an enjoyable poem. It really speaks spring to me. The imagery was beautiful. I could picture the blossoms and the air turning from frigid to balmy. Good luck in the contest.

UN-named scribe, your praise for and affection for all things spring is adamantly listed, starting with apt title, glorious colors picture, senti-mental theme and affable tone...A splattering of alliterations: G's, S's, T's, B's and P's provides a lyrical sound to the read...An original heartfelt piece.
Good luck in the contest. teafor2

Your poem beautifully shares the magic of spring! I could practically see the hills bursting with green and feel the gentle breeze. I loved the line about trees blossoming like "popping corn gone wild" - such a fun way to share this! The flow of your poem made it a joy to read. This left me smiling!
