A poem of climate change15 total reviews

I too am concerned about climate change. I don't necessarily believe that it is all our fault either. What I do know, is that I see so many people, deliberately polluting our home, without a second thought. So in this way I can relate to your poem on a personal level. I believe, that our Creator promised to bring to ruin, those ruining the earth.
It was well written, and the allusions are quite memorable; only they weren't true, but they are.
This is also one of the few times, I really believe the absence of an image(picture) was unnecessary, and would have detracted from the impact of it's imagery.
Well done, refreshingly creative and deep.

Thanks for the exceptional review again. I think it's pretty clear that the evidence of man made climate change is largely circumstantial, but that doesn't clear us of the mishandling and mismanagement of our resources and our role as stewards of this creation. Everywhere I go, I see roads littered with empty cans, plastic bags and cardboard. We can do better. estory

You are very welcome.

This poem utilizes the technique of questions to help the structure move along.
Here is a well-worded question:
What has become of the magic
Holding our world together,
Conjuring the crystalline winter?
On the plus side, I studied the difference in snowfall in one of the winteriest (is that a word) Wyoming counties in the U.S.A. It seems snowfall has actually increased about a quarter inch a year over the past 30 years or so on the average--but not every year. No fear of losing out on water there. Maybe all the magic went to Wyoming.

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on the subject matter of the poem. I wanted a confrontational style, and I think the questions posed confront the reader. As for the global warming; the planet is warming up like a pot boils. Uneven. Some areas get more rain, some get less. But as to what is causing it; that isn't really the point of the poem. We have become less than great stewards of this world. We trash the countryside, we waste energy. We can do better. estory

This is what we're written with your thoughts. I do not believe that man-made climate change is even possible. I think God has it all under his control and he has a purpose and causing it to warm and he also has a purpose for it getting cold. This is man's attempt to have power over man by shaming him into buying certain things, or eliminate him from using certain things. Patricia

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on the piece. I think there is an element of manipulation in all this climate change talk. At the heart of it is the huge need for power that these data companies need to power their AI data centers. And they don't want to spend billions on new gas plants of nuclear power plants. Solar and wind are much cheaper. The real point of my poem is that we can be better stewards of our world. We can pollute less, waste less energy, stop trashing the roads. God doesn't even mention climate change in the Bible. He talks about natural disasters brought on by the horrible behavior of people. estory

I agree with you. The earth has been evolving and changing for years. Yes, there is Gobal Warming, and it would happen anyway. I do believe we have hurried it up some. We have not been good stewards of the earth that God entrusted us with. Thank you for sharing.

Two excellent pieces of poetry. The short sharp sentences of the first really illustrate the scene of devastation you were describing.
The second piece comes across as more thoughtful rather than just observational. Both were equally as effective.
I was reading your notes and I too feel like climate change is not entirely man made. No doubt we are contributing to it these days, but there was massive climate instability before we were around.

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on the poem. I wanted an in your face, confrontational style and I think the brutal imagery and hammering rhythm of the first part, going along with the questions that confront the reader in the second part, tried to do that. The point of the poem is that we can be better stewards the world we live on. Climate change itself has been happening since the world began. But it's the unsettling atmosphere of it, the lack of control we feel, that undermines our sense of well being. Maybe for a reason. estory
