A fine poem with rhyme, and a fun one, seeing the tables turned and knowing that the kids will soon know what it feels like to be parents. Best wishes for your entry.

Thanks ever so much Wendy! You just reminded me of something my mom, who also was a teacher and a poet used to say,
"your ideas will change as you grow up about the life you had,
then you decide what's good to keep and then throw out the bad."
Thank you for your lovely words my friend

Love this! I saw a bumper sticker that read:
"Live long enough to be a problem for your kids!"
Okay -- So we're not going that far...
But I have to admit to a certain smile when I see my kids "adulting" -- dealing with their own pre-teens and teens.
The proverbial shoe is on the other foot!

Thanks so much Karenina for such a lovely review and words for my poem. Do you ever feel like you just know you did something right when you see how good your kids parent their kids? Thanks again my very dear friend!

Just last night! My granddaughter was confessing to nerves as her first day of college is a week away...
Her dad, my son, told her (in front of me):
"You've made me proud every day is nice you were born...you're going to do great!"
(Almost verbatim what I told him when he was 18!)
Sweeeeeeeet.

That is so precious! What a good dad who learned it from a good mom!
Y'know when my husband happen had his second hip replacement a couple weeks ago, my 19 yr old granddaughter who lives 60 miles away came over to stay and do an overnight. She said, grandma we can do like we used to , eat junk food drink pop play games. She is a sweetheart too. But I know she was afraid of something happening to me.

Yes, mystery poet, the roles reverse as we get older. The cycle of life cycles on. A fun one for the writing prompt and aptly illustrated. Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the upcoming contest,
Sally Law :)) XOs

I am using my last six for this delightful and creative poem. You write of the trials of raising kids. Maybe they will get payback now that they have their own kids.
But as you end your words, you show as parents, you did a good job. Your children are taking care of their parents.
Good luck in the contest.
Best wishes
Mary

Oh yes Mary, there is always trials in raising children as they make mistakes and so did we. But the one thing they always knew was that they were loved. And they have passed that down to their kids and are showing us that we did a pretty good job by helping us out right now. We are so blessed!
As I am for your friendship. Thank you so much for the lovely review, kind words and the gracious gift of six stars!
You are so appreciated my friend!

Your poem is excellent in every respect--well written, moving, and vividly descriptive of the cycle of generations--with all its hard and wonderful times. Yes, those roles may be reversed eventually.

Your poem on children, teenagers and finally married ones having your grandchildren is so true. In the winter of our days we rely on those we gave life to; they care for us as we used to care for them. Life follows the same patterns. K XX

I was one of seven. It was a different world, but the dynamics of families have not changed. Now, I appreciate my parents and I know my children will come through as I get older. There is no perfect family model. Some of us are luckier than others. A tender poem but a bounty of parental love

Hello author, I love how you illustrate the various cycles of life, especially:
Then we had three teenagers, who had each other's back
'Twas hard to keep your stories straight, in fear that one would crack
(Author, I had three teenagers too, and I know how they have each other's back. They sure do think that they are smarter than mom and dad at that age ... little did they know???)
Great photo choice. Silky rhyming. A pleasure to read. As this is a writing prompt entry, I wish you good luck. LateBloomer

Thank you so very much Margaret! You are always so sweet and I so appreciate hearing the parts that you like the most. To tell you the truth, I found out about some things after they were all grown up and were actually kinda proud of them that they were there for each other but couldn't believe that I fell for their lame excuses. I guess I wasn't as smart as I thought, however they usually got caught. I think! Lol! Thanks for your fun review of my silly little poem.

Hello author, I found out most of the stuff when my children were grown too. Still finding out things. Lol.
The passage rights of teenagers.

This was a really enjoyable read. Thank you for bringing a smile to my day with this delightful tale of how children change our lives as they change, themselves. The part about wondering how they're going to feel when their children call them geeks reminded me of a meme I saw awhile back: Grandchildren are our reward for not having eaten our own children when they were teenagers.
I bet this entry will do great in the polls.
