Some Things Just Aren't Funny by Elizabeth Emerald Artwork by MoonWillow at FanArtReview.com |
![]() While Trump was campaigning in 2016, SNL featured weekly skits, in which actor Alec Baldwin did a spot-on rendition of Trump. The skits were hilarious, as were the sundry political satirical skits over the 40-plus years since SNL's inception; the actors who impersonated the candidates nailed their mannerisms. Once Trump was elected, the fun stopped; for the past four years SNL has spewed snark sans humor. Tonight's show, which I turned off in disgust, featured a discussion panel on the Derek Chauvin murder trial. I was mortified; their pitiful attempt at dark humor fell offensively flat. Newsflash: There is nothing remotely funny about a murder trial; give it up, SNL. Or I shall give you up.
