A Roger's Refrain

A chapter in the book Little Poems

What the Wind Carries

by Treischel

The wind blows fiercely back and forth.
It chills us coming from the north.
From thence, it pummels the whole earth.
Our souls get battered back and forth.

What seeds are carried in the air?
Invisible, left unaware,
our fate seems only deep despair.
Our cries get carried in the air.

Contrary forces blow about.
The moods of protest scream and shout.
Confinement yearns to let us out,
while shattered pieces blow about.

What fools betray our hopes and dreams?
They're measured now in lost esteems,
as shuttered stores face foul extremes,
once they have lost their hopes and dreams.

Did science lead us all astray?
Predictions changing every day,
of wearing masks the proper way,
forecasted deaths that went astray.

The vulnerable left to die
in isolation. No goodbye.
All lost to empty alibi,
when leaders words left them to die.

We pray, from chaos comes rebirth,
when wind blows fiercely back and forth.

Some more thoughts about our pandemic.

I was introduced to this form recently by damommy in her poem I Stuck With It.

This poem is a Roger's Refrain.
This is a form invented on AllPoetry.com by Rockape. It is written in iambic tetrameter with any number of mono-rhyme quatrain stanzas, and
and ending rhyming couplet. It is stanzaic, with quatrains, each stanza being mono-rhymed with the last half of line one, being the repeated refrain, as the last half of line 4.
There is no limit to the number of stanzas but the poem must end with a rhyming couplet.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
