I love to view my maple tree in every season.

My Maple Tree

by HarryT

Love you, my old maple tree, in my backyard
With leafy branches, you're a muse for a bard
Bark, dark gray with a thick, black rugged ridge
Telling the tale of your lifelong weathered bridge

In autumn, your leaves ignite like flame
A crimson flush that secures your fame
Though winter strips you bare and still
You stand unyielding with firm iron will

Through every season, three squirrels dart
Their descending dance, ballerinas' fine art
They chatter and leap with vigorous glee
Down from their home high in your canopy

Oh, thanks for sheltering squirrels for free
This ode to you, my wonderful maple tree
