A Joseph's Star poem
The Cracking of Solitude
Then,
When all stilled,
I froze alongside.
Not shifting, nor flourishing.
I mirrored the atmosphere -
It was cold, and dark,
Iced over,
Hushed.
Now,
When all stills,
I freeze, but slightly.
The effort aches, but I walk,
I move until my joints lock.
It is cold, but bright,
My flat heart
Thumps.
Soon,
When it’ll still,
I’ll hardly notice.
The soft warmth of my body
Will keep out the icebound coils,
And then I will race
The blazing
Sun.
