The Women who inspires me

My Oma

by tinkervic

Oma is a German word for grandmother, She is a woman like no other. She is currently in her 80s. Born and raised in Austria. She came to America by plane at the age of 16. She married my grandfather at 18, and started a family. She had 3 kids, 2 boys and 1 girl. My mother is her daughter. My Oma helped raise me.  She taught me the value of hard work. How to be strong willed independent women. She tried to teach me how to cook delicious German food, but unfortunately i could not pick up the knack for it. Most of all She taught me to believe in myself. At her age now she has spinal stenoisis. Some days can barely move but she insists on walking her dog in 30 degree weather, she told me if you don't keep going you are going to give up, and you cannot you have to push forward.  She is an inspiration to me because no matter what happens in life  good or bad you have to just keep striving for the best.
