A Need Supplied

Mrs Pepper was lonely and sad. Widowhood and grief she had half prepared for; loneliness like a pervading smell was something else.  As was the habit of a lifetime, she cooked meals for two rather than herself alone, hence her freezer was beginning to fill.

Disgusted, she decided to walk to the park, read her novel, perhaps treat herself to a coffee. When she got there, she saw a young woman and a child looking cold and very sad.

Mrs Pepper spoke to the young mother, deciding that help was needed. They all walked back to her house, had a meal together. Mrs Pepper then discovered her guests lived on the streets. She offered a bed for the night, making sure her new friends were warm. She made a decision even her husband would approve of. Offer them a place to stay! They would soon know if they were compatible.
