Excellent
Not yet exceptional. When the exceptional rating is reached this is highlighted
A woman you would not want to meet.

Spoilt

by Helen Menzies

Spoilt

Victoria Harvey was a socialite
Living in a palatial home, rent free
She constantly complained about miniscule things
Being the victim, citing, "poor old me."

Victoria had staff, paying minimum wage
Thinking they were priviledged that she'd employed them
She kept a little book to rate their competency
Docking pay, if not ten out of ten.

For example, her chauffeur being five minutes late
The cleaner missing a speck of dust on a light
No explanations were allowed, staff  told to be quiet
As Victoria was always right.

She shopped at Harvey Nichols using her trust fund
Feeling happy for a very short time
Then pay for her friends at a fancy restaurant
Quaffing champagne, before they started to dine.

Victoria paraded herself at charity events
Making sure paparazzi photographed her
Pretending to show interest in these heartfelt causes
But truly, she didn't care.

Out of the blue, Victoria's father was being investigated
He'd stolen millions from shares in his company
Victoria didn't think this would affect her one bit
Wearing blinkers, not able to see.

Eventually, the phone call came from her mother
She stated "there's no money, assests frozen, we are poor."
Victoria screamed that "life was unfair!"
But still asking "is it true, are you sure?"

Months passed, Victoria moved into a studio flat
Tables reversed, working in a shop selling handbags
This spoilt, self-centred woman had received retribution
In an instant turned from riches to rags.

A poem about a Woman contest entry

Unfortunately I worked with this woman (changed her name) when I was in the charity sector. She hardly did a thing and was miserable beyond belief.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
