The battle between the gladiators

The Battle

by Kahlani

The author has placed a warning on this post for violence.
Within the confines of the arena,
immersed in the luminous light.
The battle begins,
the race is on,
feeling exposed in this unfair fight.

Bold eyes clashing, a source of contention,
steel hearts slamming against the wall.
Tensions are rising,
the time bomb ticks,
listening for the primitive call.

The fierce warriors nimbly draw closer,
primed to defend and take a stand.
Inner rage simmers,
restless sparks fly,
loud roars go up at the king's command.

Swishing of the blade, the clanging of steel,
masters of the almighty war.
Flexed bodies humming,
pulses bursting,
pending death with the plunge of the sword.

Fervent cheers erupt at the bloody death,
hear the snarling victory cry.
Opponent is down,
victor rises,
the devil's enemy had to die.
