proverbs chapter 31 (free verse)

The Virtuous Woman

by patcelaw

She was a woman of great virtue,

Her value was far above rubies,

Her husband safely trusted her,

knowing with her, there'd be no spoil.

She always did him good and not evil,

all the days of their lives together.

Being a very resourceful woman,

she sought things needed for her household.

Always willing to work with her hands,

She created clothing for her family.

She’d rise from her bed while it was still dark,

to carefully prepare meals for her family.

Her arms and legs were strong.

She had no fear of the cold for her loved ones.

And she wanted to look to help those in need.

She looked well to the needs of her home.

Her children were quite well-behaved.

Her husband would praise her in the streets,

when he was speaking with his friends.

This woman of great virtue.

Since the first time I read Proverbs 31 it has always been my feeling that every young lady by the time she is 12 years old should be instructed in the Scriptures the story of the virtuous woman in this Proverb.
I did not have this instruction when I was that young and after I married, it seemed God was telling me how to raise my family. It was only after my children were all pretty well grown that I ever read Proverbs 31.
