Entry for the rhyming poem contest
Among the Leaves
I feel the early morning breeze
waft gently through the autumn leaves.
A sense of peace puts me at ease
and soothes my lonely heart that grieves.
As snowflakes blanket barren ground,
all woodland creatures hibernate
and forest sleeps without a sound.
When spring returns they celebrate.
As pink skies crown the earth at dawn,
sweet scent of lilacs fill the air.
Gold monarchs flit across the lawn,
while dragonflies perform with flair.
Red roses decorate bouquets.
A bride in June strolls down the aisle.
Sweet memories of happy days ~
drift slowly down into a pile.
