A Boy's Dilemma

by Tom Horonzy

There was a boy who had two shoes.
He looked at them unknowing what to do.
One curved one way; the other another.
Was it too early to wake his mother?
Yes.

 So baffled, he stood, completely befuddled.
His mind and body in a kerfuffle;
yet he was frozen, being bewildered,
hoping a thought might become familiar.

Then it dawned on him,  "let's try one on."
That led him to ponder, which one?

All asudden, there on the toes
were an "L" and a "R" to let him know,
one was for "left; the other for right.
Two clues that could diminish his plight;
Save for one fact, which became bittersweet,
for the lad had no letters written on his feet.
So, he fell on his rump with a frightful thump
Thinking, life is revoltin' being so stumped.

Then, in the doorway with a smile on her face
stood a woman who came to end his disgrace.
Kneeling beside him and taking his hands,
she turned them over to have him understand,
the two letters she wrote the night before
were a match for the two shoes on the floor.

Picture is my own. Doesn't the lad look confused? Taken at a park as the boy was found apart from his mom.
