Obligations

by Mintybee

Obligations, like spider webs,
stick to me.

I enter the room
and run face-first into them:
gobs landing in my hair,
sticking to my face,
clinging in my eyelashes.

I try to pull them off,
but now they're on my hands,
under my nails,
in the creases of my fingers.
I try to shake them off,
but they are not easily shed.

I cannot be rid of obligations.

Does anyone else have a hard time saying no?
