Before she was a housewife with a custom-made front door
That opens to a kitchen with it's prestige marble floor
Prior to her marriage, and two kids- she does adore
She dreamt of quite a different life, one she now can't explore
She dreamt she’d be a singer with a grammy- maybe four
And hoped to see her best-seller displayed at each bookstore
Frankly, she aimed for anything requiring a tour
A life in which a crowd of fans would beg for an encore
But a few years back, when she was just a college senior
She crushed her last exam, then got wasted on cheap liqueur
With her roommate, she stumbled to the kegger right next door
Booze made her fall right into him, and fate made her fall more
He couldn't get enough of her or simply just ignore
The way he felt when with her, never felt that way before
She drank too much and came on strong; he tried not to want more
But gentleman intent fled -with them- straight out the back door
Now each night since that first one, and each one furthermore
Spending all their time together on the bed, table, or floor
Those two, like rabbits,' lacked good habits; now they are done for
He knocked her up from all that love, all things quite premature…
Living in the suburbs now, a home they worked hard for
From college kids to parents, a baby girl, and one more
How quickly life can change forcing two kids to be mature
Brisk change of course, and canceled plans when a child needs you more
You see, the second time around all things seemed good and sure
The housewife joked "this is it" plans to mom and much more
But things did not quite go as planned when she was in labor
Tending to a very special need, greater plan she's been called for
Of course, they will have troubles, things she may resent him for
Like another big promotion or some work related score
All day on feet nonstop only to feel she should have done more
Housewife and mom no harder a job, often thankless, that's for sure
Though every day and every task she gladly does endure
How deprived of sleep this housewife is, how tedious the chore
On days her only confidant is Mr. Miller’s cat next door
In truth, she knows just what she has, and what she’s needed for
This housewife may have sacrificed a life wanted before
But now she’s filthy rich, you see, without them, she’d be poor
She prays to God with no request to replace or restore
She thanks Him for so-called mistakes that led her to much more
