An Empat Empat poem

End of Sleep

by damommy

What was that noise that ended sleep?
Was it a dream or was it real?
I feel the fear begin to creep,
and night has lost its dark appeal.

It’s time when ghosts and ghouls come out.
What was that noise that ended sleep?
Is something here that crawls about
to take my soul, and it to keep?

Must look to see, must have a peep
at what has wakened me this hour.
What was that noise that ended sleep?
What can it be to have such power?

The morning light’s begun to show
and brighten all with sunny sweep.
And I may never, ever know
what was that noise that ended sleep.
