I thought it was just me who preferred Virtual Ville
Validation Appreciated!
by Elizabeth Emerald
A few days ago, I confessed to being less than thrilled about a pending visit from a friend.
Donna is a dear friend, whom I hadn't seen since August of 2019. Yet, when she called to propose that she stop by Saturday to introduce her new man-friend, my reflex reaction was to blow her off.
My sociable side had been in hibernation for the past year; I was loath to rouse it.
Nonetheless, feigning avidity, I invited them to dinner.
My duties as regards hosting were mercifully mitigated in that my "Best Man," aka Chuck, volunteered to make a casserole. (My duties as regards housecleaning were mitigated in that my slothful self did not volunteer to vacuum the fur-garnished furniture.)
I was delightfully surprised that several who reviewed my piece expressed similar sentiments. Their enthusiasm for entertaining had dissipated; they'd grown accustomed to social isolation and have found solace on this site.
Six stars for StoryLand, where visits are virtual and vacuuming is moot.
Cheers.
