Starts Within...
True Beauty
Mirror, mirror, that's on the wall,
I see myself but can't recall,
how once I looked in younger days,
now faded snapshots hold my gaze.
I see me in the looking glass,
a face much older then time's past.
When youth and beauty were my own,
before my wild oats were sown.
Could that be me that's looking back?
Brightness in eyes and cheeks, I lack.
Not too happy by what I see,
but that is only part of me.
I harbor wisdom in my eyes,
I have seen much, that's no surprise.
A woman who tries hard to find
it in her heart to all, be kind.
So what mirror, if you reflect
some gray? Hair dye, that will correct!
So what if wrinkles do defile
my face? They're there because I smile!
Who cares? Do You? My face looks weary,
or that my vision has been bleary?
These eyes, mirror, have served me well,
with contacts you could never tell.
I'm so glad mirror, on this day,
I'm not afraid to look your way.
For my true beauty you can't see,
it's in the heart and soul of me.
