This poem is a wonderful treatise to the inner soul and reveals the popular phrase 'beauty is only skin deep'. The reference to your inner beauty is the starring feature.

'I'm so glad mirror, on this day,
I'm not afraid to look your way.
For my true beauty you can't see,
it's in the heart and soul of me.'

1st prize was well deserved. Congratulations!

Ralf

Congratulations for winning the mirror contest. This is a thoughtful and meaningful poem and I'm so glad to see it was a winner. We all grow old and sometimes it is not easy to accept the changes that may bring to our mirror image but it is so wise to remember the inside is what really matters. And... I'm convinced, what is inside the heart is actually visible on the face. Thanks so much for this lovely reminder. MM

Well I can see why you won, that was wonderful. I don't know how old you are, your picture could be recent or from 30 years ago, BUT I am 80 and I appreciate your piece BECAUSE it hits home.

You boo boo, that is my affectionate saying for someone who tries to fool people about their age. :)))) I remember 62, that was 20 years ago for me. Honey I hate to tell you this but at a 80 the bottom falls out, oh well maybe it is just covid. I felt like ???? 22 about 2 years ago, but not now. :(((((

Congrats on winning the contest, your poem it's so beautiful it speaks about acceptance of our age, but also keeping our youth in our souls: "I harbor wisdom in my eyes,
I have seen much, that's no surprise.
A woman who tries hard to find
it in her heart to all, be kind" Thank you for sharing, and good luck with your writings.

This reminds me of a time a friend and I were at an ice cream stand and she said about the younger girls, "Look at them, so thin and healthy and so well-formed." I said, "Trust me, it will all fall for thrm too someday." Some of us have grown more beautiful as we've aged. This is a good perspective.

A very nice poem about what you see in yourself, as a person and beyond. Self doubt will bring no confidence but if we believe in ourselves we will be just hunky dory! The mirror never tells tales unless its one that's contorting. (New word that I learned just recently.)

Beautiful poem, very good entry for the competition.
I love the rhyme and the wording, you say what most of us should think and remember beauty is truly within.

Thank you for sharing

A very well-written poem about the revelation of the mirror images are not always what we like to see about ourselves, but when we look through the mirror we find our i net beauty that no mirror can reflect.
