American Revolutionary War Battle

Minutemen Attack

by Lance S. Loria

Minutemen prepare for battle,
Wagons rattle.
No words spoken,
Grit unbroken.

Drummers beat the infantry charge,
Cannons discharge.
Bayonets fixed,
Red coats transfixed.

Opposing armies clash with force,
The charge on course.
Bloody image,
Fighting scrimmage.

The Red coats refer to the opposing British troops.

We often equate a scrimmage with college football practice but in this poem it relates to a confused struggle or battle.
