Winter Preparations
November’s here so let’s all cheer
for harvest season’s fin’lly here!
Breakout your boots and knitted hat,
Autumn’s laid out her welcome mat!
Leaves of bright red and orange and gold
are just the start to fun untold…
We'll begin in the pumpkin patch
where gryphon eggs are known to hatch:
though I’ve not found one yet to date,
this could be it, so don’t be late!
You know, I hear they make great pets
but tough to shelter, I would guess…
Now grab a bag ‘cuz our next stop:
A cornfield ready to eavesdrop.
That’s right, the ears are magical –
their hearing’s quite dynamical!
Please be careful as you gather,
choose ones fairly long in stature…
It’s said the longer ears are deaf,
something about a wizard chef:
Supposedly he cast a spell
so that his secrets they’d not tell.
Those shorter ones hear every word,
best zip your lips and march forward!
Pumpkins and corn… hmmm, what is left?
Oh, yes! Some moonbeams for effect!
First, set aside the veggie sack,
open your arms, lay on your back:
Soak in those beams from head to toe –
When clothes are full, they’ll let you know!
Now, grab the sack and run inside:
you’ll feel refreshed and energized!
With magic corn and gryphon dreams
and clothing soaked with bright moonbeams,
We all await the yarns you’ll spin
when December and her snows move in!

A gryphon is a mythical creature with the head and wings of an eagle and the body of a lion, typically depicted with pointed ears and with the eagle's legs taking the place of the forelegs.
