![]() punster: Let me start by sharing briefly on my writing background and aspirations. I have always enjoyed writing whether fact or fiction. I somehow feel that I have a leaning towards fiction; I have about three embryonic novels in my head. Currently they comprise little more than a head-full of 'alphabet soup' but, every now and again, a flurry of words evolves from this ever thickening broth to form a new sentence, paragraph or chapter. I have written business articles before; management articles in a South African business magazine. I have also authored an e-Book which I never freely distributed. My son's view on my literary forays is a somewhat simplistic "Pops should have been an academic". Personally I enjoy business writing; I have a passion for strategy development and execution. However, I have moments of creative clarity that dredge deep seated emotions from my very soul and express them in stories (the novels I alluded to earlier) and poems. In concluding this initial post, I take heart in having been told on more than one occasion: "you have a way with words". Time and type will tell. |

I retired from case management work that required writing grants for funding, methodology, and progress reports. I enjoyed it but getting out of the restraints and freely writing is liberating. I found my fiction works better if I don't pre-organize the material as I did in professional writing. I have a loose outline but once I start the characters develop a life of their own and I just write it down. - | ||
