Little Jewels: Why do we have to be Okay? Why do we feel like we have to reply with the equivalent of "fine" when someone asks us how we are doing? And why, when we do dare to jump out on that precariously thin limb and say the unthinkable.... "I'm not okay right now at all. In fact I'm having a really hard time." do we get such useless responses as "just Trust God. Look on the bright side. Now lets be positive." Or, "God is in control." Of course He is! 99% of the time we know all those things. We aren't bearing our souls because we don't have enough faith to "be okay." What is wrong with the christian body as a collective? Are we really that useless? We don't always need to share something positive when someone bears their pain. Don't assume they are being negative. Try assuming they are being real, and you are just lucky enough to get the opportunity to care for them at that moment. Don't blow it. |

I once greeted my husband's co-worker with "How are you?" and he replied, "Not so good. I have lung cancer." NOW, I just say "Hi!" A doctor I know always greets friends with "How are ya?" pronounced like "HaWIya" (Hawaii.) Works for him. -

They all know sh*t happens, but don't want to be reminded of it (we all have our own problems to be concerned about). :-p Too few really care to listen and appreciate. :-p By the way, I KNOW Jesus would approve of profane expressions in certain tense circumstances--keeping it 'real'. :-p -
