Rattler: How the heck does someone get 150+ views and like 10 reviews. That's crazy to me. If you're going to the trouble to read something why not comment, and get the member cents. Just seams crazy to me, that's all I'm saying.
nor84: I asked about that once, and Tom said the "views" reflected attempted hits by search engines as well as members who glanced at, but didn't review, the work. -
redrider6612: You can cut down on the number of views vs. reviews if you set your profile to private so the search engines don't pick it up. -
Rattler: No problem I was just curious. Thanks for the info. -
Joy Graham: I may view a lot of posts but only review the ones I like. I consider non-reviews to be as much of a review in that way. -
Joy Graham: Further to my comment above. I am not a scholar and my momma taught me just like Thumper on Bambi "If you don't got nothin good to say then don't say nothin at all." -
Lady & Louis: The number doesn't take into account repeat views, either. Someone might look at something and come back to review it later. But more than that, and leaving out the search engine thingy (which I hadn't known about, thanks Norma) - it seems to me that thinking the number of reviews vs views shoud be similar, is like saying every time someone picks up a book to look at it, they should buy it. Not everyone's tastes or interests are the same. I'm not read (let alone review) a horror story or a fundamentalist religious piece, for instance, but having clicked on it, the view count will go up. -
Joy Graham: Thank you, Louise! I was having a hard time putting this all into words. I don't mean to offend you, Rattler. Not sure if I have read any of your posts. There are just some things that aren't my "cup of tea" and I simply hit the "skip" button. -
Rattler: No offense taken, Joy. I was thinking more along the lines of reviewing for the member dollars. I know most of my stuff is not ready for real scrutiny yet. If it weren't for kind reviewers pointing out my (SPAG or is it SGAP) I'd probably have given up by now. -
redrider6612: I don't pay any mind to number of views. In fact, it wouldn't bother me if the site did away with the view counter. -
Lady & Louis: I agree, Red, it's quite pointless really. -
Rattler: I would love to be able to review and not rate. Just comment only. At least until the post was in better condition. I hate to not comment on something and I find it too hard to rate below 4 stars no matter what. I'm know I'm an ole softy. -

Rattler: Anyone else having trouble with Fanstory site not loading or taking forever?
nor84: The site was apparently down. I couldn't connect 10 or 15 minutes ago, but it seems to be OK now. -
Rattler: Okay, thanks making sure it was not my darn PC. -
another jim: Nor is right. I got an error message telling me FanStory's server was the problem. Seems okay now, though... -

Rattler: I have a question for anyone whom can answer it. How much does it usually cost to sent a poem or short story to the home page. By my guess it's around one hundred member dollars.
Donya Quijote: Too much... :( -
shelley kaye: you mean too the top ten listed? well, there's the $10 cert of course.... and then about 10-15 pumps should do it :-P

    -
Donya Quijote: Oh, and actually broke my ankle reviewing. Tried to be constructive in each one. Spent several hours sitting at my laptop doing so. I didn't realize how long I had been at until I got thirsty and wanted something to drink. I stood up and down I went. I had put my leg to sleep and had no foot to stand on. Only manage to earn enough member money to get to page 9. It didn't change the number of actual reviews I got but more people may have read to pieces I submitted at that time. I think everyone's experience is different. Good luck and have fun, and don't break any bones!!!! -
    Border Reiver: Nearer $130 -
Rattler: OMG.. No way I am promoting anything for either price $100+ member dollars or a broken ankle.. -

Rattler: Yeaaaa, I finally won a itty bitty contest. "The Game"
Crackerberries: Congratulations... let's kill the fatted cow! It was a golden opportunity and I'm green with envy (I thought mine was better). But hey, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Congratulations. Well done. -
Rattler: Thank you, thank you very much, Uh-huh-hah.

FYI, I voted for yours. -
ChowChow: Rattler, I had to visit you're page and see what you have to offer. I find you just joined us this very month. WELCOME! You will enjoy the trip. Honest. If you hang in there you'll become a poet before you no it (no pun). Spelling will improve, and you will have lots of great friends. too. -
ChowChow: P.S. Put a smile on your face. -
    Rattler: That's the only picture I have were I look writer-re:) -
Maureen's Pen: Hey you won my friend way to go!!!
    Hugs Maureen -
    Rattler: Thank you. -

Rattler:

Guess who made this video?
another jim: Looks like a collaboration between (a) someone with a death wish whose name is Steven, and (b) the person named as Steven's beneficiary on his life insurance policy.

    I know, lucky guess... -
    Rattler: LOL -

Rattler: The different forms of lie and lay. Hope this helps .

I'm lying here upon the shore; I lie here every day. I've lain here many times before; I lay my head upon the floor if you'd lie down by me. I've laid it there five times or more: (I lied - it's only three)
another jim: Hang on. I need to go get my electron microscope to read those last couple of sentences... -
Border Reiver: Super, Rattler. Quite a lot of people get these verbs mixed up. To me they're obvious. Your little quote would surely make it obvious to all. -
Rattler: I mainly put it there for me LOL. -
Bellydanser: Well, I'm copying and saving for reference. Nice way to explain it. :) -
another jim: Was I the only one whose screen showed the lettering in Rattler's post decreasing in size until it was so small that it became impossible to read with the naked eye? -
shelley kaye: oh thank God the eye test is over! -
Border Reiver: No you weren't, Jim. Some how Rattler managed to change it.
    -
Rattler: LOL. What happened there was I tried to bold some words using HTML code. I left out the "/" and every time I tried to bold it shrunk the text size.. -
Rattler: If anyone has a chance to review my "Pepper Spray" story I would love to hear a review on it. I'm so excited it got a blue ribbon today. MY first one. -
michaelrandolph: alright, I will will read it if it is all right with you -
another jim: Will I need a microscope to see it? ;-D -
Rattler: No, not at all. Just turn your monitor upside down. You should be fine then. :) -
