Linda Engel: Yes, yippie. Well done. Congratulations.

FanStory wrote to sweetwoodjax: They Drive Me Insane finished third in the contest "Poetry Contests"

sweetwoodjax: I love this site, but am getting frustrated by the prompts. I don't mind losing but people need to have the courtesy to review your work if you're paying out. I have lost the last two prompts to people that never bothered to review me. Just a rant to relieve my frustration.
flylikeaneagle: I think that we should review all of the writer's work and VOTE. I share your frustration. I'm outside painting while the sun shines! flylikeaneagle -
twesberry: When a contest receives a total number of votes of 23 when there are only 5 entries - something is wrong in"denmark". Further more when I am told, go ahead and vote for yourself because many are already doing it, there's a ton of things wrong in "Denmark". -
jules4jesus: yes i can understand that i kind of feel the same way a friend pointed out to me that it is always the high raking poets that win they need different levels for people with different experience of writing poetry -
seaglass: All these are part of the reason I don't do contests or prompts. -
Jaxpoet: I agree. Some time I think the fix is in. It does not take many votes to win. And many times the writing does not meet the guidelines of the prompt but they win anyway. I get the rant and frustration. Jaxpo -
write hand blue: There are several major problems with these competitions. I question whether they should even be called competitions at all. -
Joy Graham: I find the reviews I get in contests are extremely critical and harsh. To me there's nothing wrong with saying it's a nice entry. They don't need to trash my efforts just because they don't intend to vote for it. I rarely get many votes and feel your pain. Join me in the pity party on the bottom of the totem pole. Wine and cheese served and I'm often the hostess! -
Pyrrho: I agree. Such action is like voting for yourself, not reprehensible, but also not admirable.

I refuse to participate in competitive poem writing. When I write a poem it is because it comes from within and fights to get out. Not because someone decided to initiate an inane competition. -
indianjack: I've only been here for three days, so I'm struggling to find out how everything works. You reviewed my Christmas poem and I gave your review six stars, and endorsed you or whatever it's called, and gave you 2 of my four whatever those little things are, you so can't possibly be pissed off with me, are you? -
Gypsy Blue Rose: I hear you. Contests are okay but I am more of writing whatever I want. Last year I was entering the contest every day, and most of the time I didn't win, even though my poems got really good reviews. I think the problems is the people who are reading our stuff don't vote. Anyway, I don't waste my time anymore. I understand your frustration. -
Gypsy Blue Rose: I am sorry, sweetie pie, I know how that feels.

    Happy Birthday! -
