Haggard: I have started my first novel. It is a romance book called 'Black And White Love.' I agree - What a shocker! But the storyline has been aching to come out of my head and onto paper for months! So I am very excited to be trying something new like this. Keep an eye out for it. In a week I'll post it. Should be a goer! Thanks. |

Haggard: I am constructing each of the characters personalities, appearances etc and formatting the storyline in my upcoming, unamed book. It is a long process that takes a lot of thought, but I am not one to write unknowingly. In the mean time, I will continue posting my statements/thoughts/essays for the world to judge :D |

Haggard: I want to write a book - My first book. I mean...I'm quite good at writing statements for people to be encouraged by...but a book...I just don't know how I will go...The storyline, the characters etc. Could anyone give me some helpful tips, because anything I hear I will absorb and try my hardest to fulfill. I don't want to attempt a book and fail for all the readers to frown upon. I realize that my vocabulary is huge, but I am willing to exclude it in my book if that is the right thing to do. After all, I think that a book is about the storyline and how much reader's appreciate reading it rather than a way to show off skill (correct me if I'm wrong). So could someone give me a helping hand...Some tips please as to how I should approach writing a book. I'll appreciate it with every ounce of my heart. |

So this is the best place to share your work and receive comments to what you wrote... Hmm... You want to write a book and that's awesome... First you'll have to think what your story is going to be about... you can play with your imagination to create a story... it could be just one incident, anything you wishâ?¦ Also you must decide if the story is going to be a fairy tale, a fantasy world with deep imaginationâ?¦ or a realistic oneâ?¦ or it anything else (a true story may be)â?¦ Then you have to decide in what form you are gonna write, first person narrative or third person narrativeâ?¦ we hardly use second person narrative to write storiesâ?¦ so it should be the 1st or the 3rd. â??) Then you try to form a sentence out of what you feel that should be included in your storyâ?¦ think how to approach a readers mindâ?¦ 1. You can start with a dialogue 2. You can describe a little about the surrounding 3. You can start off with the feelings inside of the narrator (it should be first person narrative for this) By the time you have formed the start and you know what your aim isâ?¦ youâ??ll begin to see what sort of things could paint your storyâ?¦ So then you can keep on writing and introduce characters and describe situationsâ?¦ but remember not to brag too much about a particular thing, for the reader becomes too bored with the story. In between you must keep your focus to where the story is leading, and try to make combinations when you switch from one incident to anotherâ?¦ keep the chain flowing and keep the circle clean, without unnecessary lines; by which I mean is not to write something that has no sense in the story lineâ?¦ but if you intend, you can leave mysteries so that the reader becomes more aware of it and tries to find the answers that runs through their brain while reading, which is a good sign... ") Finally when your story is done, chapter by chapter you can do an editing, which is recommended and far more important before you post anythingâ?¦ there could be abbreviation marks missing or dropping a letter while typing, no oneâ??s perfect when it comes to thatâ?¦ so itâ??s best to edit and reedit The best part of editing is that you realize that some incidents can shift in the front of your book or at the endâ?¦ you can start playing with it but be carefulâ?¦ You must be 100 percent satisfied with what you have written and about your story line... it is then that you can assume that the others will also like it... So Iâ??ve given you the tips that I follow when I write storiesâ?¦ and I hope that these will help you to create a wonderful story book for all of us to enjoyâ?¦ ") Keep writing no matter what the reviews could beâ?¦ youâ??ll be happy some day that you have written something worthwhileâ?¦ â??) Once you have decided what genre and what reader market you are aiming at,you could try using a mind map to help plan your plot, characters and relationships etc. Write a News Paper Headline for the story, ie: Local author found murdered! and work your way out from there. I'm sure you will have used mind mapping in college etc. but you can always google for more information. Hope this helps. -

Haggard, using a worn out cliche' : the sky is the limit ! You already have the artistic talent and the dream. Now it's time to develop and polish your craft so as to make it impeccable and attractive to publishers. Although there are a gazillion of aspiring writers, only those who persevere and are humble enough to accept guidance and constructive criticism form peers really make it to the top. So go for it, my friend, and best of luck in your endeavor ! Ama -

Haggard: I want my work to be published more than anything. I believe that my statements could be presented in a newspaper or featured in a book as a form of encouragement for this world, but I don't have the contacts in order to do so. I feel lost. I need some direction in what I'm trying to fulfil... |

To really excel in the writing craft, you need to focus on fixing flaws first! your talent and depth is certainly remarkable and I have no doubt that one day you will be published and proud...but to cherish a dream is different than building it! As my guru says, you cannot live in the blueprints of a house! So quick, pick up a brick and start construction. In your case, this mens having patience, diligence and perseverance in honing the CRAFT aspect of this art. The art part is already a gift you possess. Best wishes- rama devi -
