I found this poem enlighting and uplifting. The first line is awesome...trees absolved...
I love that 'nothing can trouble us anymore.'
Good luck in the contest.
Blessings and best wishes,
Cindy

Hello there, Estory
Your poem along with the author's notes below are a pleasure to read and ponder.
You have written a fine autumnal piece that's very visual and thought provoking as your leaves finally fall down to their winter beds and rest in peace...
Quite lovely.
kindest regards

Hello Estory,
I think you've succeeded in creating the pastoral feel
using the poetry of nature and the encompassing personification
with the trees waiting, the breeze reciting, and the butterflies kneeling,
as if all are quietly praying in the cathedral of life.
A very soothing poem for these hectic times.
Nicely done.

Thanks for the excellent review and your wonderful comments supporting the poem. The cathedral of life...I like the sound of that, and that certainly articulates what I was getting at in this piece; a religious experience of nature. estory
Comment from Tina Crute
I did enjoy it. What I liked most were the subtle shifts from couplet to couplet. It's as if you gaze lovingly at nature so your words come out poetically as you describe different parts of nature. It is almost like I see you doing a two-step in the woods and turn to music, each time seeing a new beautiful thing. I like the consistent personification. I like that even the death of leaves is a peaceful event. This is beautiful.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your interesting comments and perspective on the poem. I'm glad the construction of it came off as contemplative. I wanted to use these images of nature to create this sense of peace, of harmony with the most natural elements of creation, and through that, to God. I am glad you enjoyed it. estory

Whatever style you would call this, you are good at it, to put it simply. If I had a six, this poem would have stolen it:)

Wow! I love this. I love how it has a rhythm to it, though it's not rhyming (but close enough). I like the last part; I like how it left me feel heartbroken. Good job!

You brought the changing season here as Autumn prepares the ground for winter and there is a kind of peace as the leaves are swept into the air with the breeze and the earth seems to rest after the harvest, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Comment from Ulla
And I enjoyed it, estory, I enjoyed it a lot. It's a lovely written poem. It's so full of imagery and rhytmn. Just read the first stanza:
Trees absolved by last year's rain
Wait patiently for judgement day.
I loved it. It says it all. Ulla:)))

Comment from Bill Pinder
I like this unique poem and appreciate your detailed notes about it. You expressed very well the interplay between the natural and spiritual. Just as trees can drop their leaves and rest in peace, we have the opportunity to rest in God's care As part of the normal process of life. Bill

I enjoyed this writing. The images it gives the reader a moment of peace and solstice. I especially like the last stanza as a new way of looking at fall/winter as the trees slowly go to rest.
Well done and thank you for the image.

This is indeed a superb little pastoral, estory. I am taking great pleasure from the shorter poems this year, and yours is just lovely.
What remains is what is pure and simple.
Just beautiful.
