Great work. I was very impressed by how you were able to fuse your love of : The Who, Steppenwolf, and these other bands and artists with all of these moments that happened in your life. Thought the parts of your tale where you were jamming out with your battalion was awesome. Well done.

Songs can help us heal and transport us back to good memories. I enjoyed reading your story, most of the songs you mentioned I am familiar with. I would have loved to attend that music session in Japan.

Music truly is the soundtrack we base our lives on. I still the first time I heard Folsum Prison Blues on our old AM radio. I was hooked after that. What a wonderfully written story.

This is a really nice write and I think it reflects what so many of us know and that is that music is an integral part of life and more specifically, OUR lives. Very nice write for the 'I Remember' writing prompt contest.

So true for everyone. Songs bring back flashbacks whether it is a memory a school event, or just a forgotten feeling. I guess it's true; music does move the soul.

You are in the same age group as myself, judging from the songs and lyrics i also remember so well too.... especially those by Simon and Garfunkel, Johnny Cash, Bob Seger, bruce Springsteen, Steppenwolf, America, The Eagles, and Stevie Wonder... remarkable similarities in taste. Your mother gave you good advice to choose your own style to appreciate.
