Thank you for adding this chapter to the Renga. I actually knew about the female prayer mantis' habits. Your artwork selection added to the drama. Enjoy a productive, new week- Joan

Gruesome though the mating practice is, these are some of the coolest insects, aren't they? Love to just watch one 'in action' through the kitchen window sometimes... ;) :) A wonderful followon here, June -- thanx for sharing! ;) Yvette

Some insects can be beastly - nature does have some strange ways. But I thought it was a different take on the moonlit garden and all of its activities at night...

Indeed. Those must be heartfelt prayers. This is an excellent short write June. The two lines flow smoothly and the anthropomorphism is subtle.
Renga seems interesting. I may take a turn soon..
Stay safe

This is funny. I did Know that this was a mating ritual for the female to behead the mate. It would be something to offer a prayer of Thanksgiving about.

A very well-written couplet about the date of the male praying mantis when mating with the female seldom escapes the event when he does he takes time to pray.

Hi, June!
nice photo of an insect that is pretty benign, except for a female eating a male. Your photo is a little spooky, even though the male was spared. I'm sure even insects realize things always look better in the morning.
Have a great Sunday, June.
Best wishes,
Cindy

This 5-7-5, Moonlit Prayer, has the right set up and takes the amorous connect of the moon to the post-mating mantis who still has his head.

How unfortunate to lose one's head on that day appointed to produce some little ones to reproduce in the future, the males reproducing more males to lose their heads in being "heads under heels in love." Well done June, blessings Roy

Must make sure we don?t lose our heads on matters of romance! Just a cheeky piece for fun...

That?s truer, either metaphorically or literally.
