Carlos? girl!
Wow! I have been in her presence twice in my life; the second time with my 17 1/2 year old daughter. Both times she followed me around the gallery. I was among the many who were mesmerized by her beauty and gaze.

Good job with keeping with the 5-7-5 poem style. I think your poem pretty much captures what the well chosen art work projects. Your words were very melodic.

You might like to read about da Vinci and Michaelangelo in Firenze in the historical novel:
Oil and Marble: A Novel of Leonardo and Michelangelo
by Stephanie Storey
From 1501?1505, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo Buonarroti both lived and worked in Florence. Leonardo was a charming, handsome fifty year-old at the peak of his career. Michelangelo was a temperamental sculptor in his mid-twenties, desperate to make a name for himself

I have been to Louvre and seen the original painting Mona Lisa. This one is not a bad one with a twist. With her painted eyebrows and red lips, she could enamor us all. With the full moon under her, she almost looks like a werewolf.
Well done.

Thanks Lisa! I saw her twice. Each time she followed me. Others likely had a similar experience (-;

This a great entry, and best of luck in the contest. That's a striking image you selected for your artwork. You're privileged to have seen the actual Mona Lisa hanging in the Louve. Your words lend a musical sound to the poem. Your syllable count is precise, and you have some excellent rhyme with dark and afar. Alliteration with enigmatic and enamors adds to the musical quality. judi

Judi,
Thanks so much your generous remarks for my Mona Lisa contest entry. You can Google its actual size, but it is surprisingly small and actually not very bright. Regardless, her gaze and smile capture you.

You're welcome. judi

I do love da Vinci's Mona Lisa best. Or La Jaconde / La Giaconda (Delight) which sounds better than "monkey smile." Her smile is really enigmatic. I like your repetition of "en" words (enigmatic, enamored). Best wishes in the contest!

You may like to read Stephanie Storey?s historical novel about Michaelangelo sculpting David and Da Vinci painting Mona Lisa in Florence, Italy in the first few years of 1500. Thanks for your encouraging words.

Interesting! Someday! I'm mostly reading articles and Fanstory posts now.

Mark, I love this mysterious, modern-day version of Mona Lisa. Da Vinci couldn't have found a better model! 400 years after her inception her smile still captivated.
Excellent work, Mark.

Cindy,
At the same time Leonardo painted Mona Lisa, Michaelangelo was sculpting David in Florence, Italy. If you are interested in reading a novel about them in the early 1500s, read Stephanie Storey?s historical fiction, Oil and Marble - a fascinating story.

Thank you. I will look up this book. Thank you for your conmentary.

I have had the privilege of seeing this painting for real when I was just 16 as we had a trip to Paris and then on to Barcelona. Me and my family were on a 3 week adventure in our little Rover 90. I remember being disappointed by it because the painting seemed small and the colours dark. Her critical eyes followed me as I left the room, your words brought back the memory, love Dolly x

Dolly,
You are right about that painting. Twice in my life, she glanced my way. The second time was with my daughter in her teen years. Pleased my post brought back such fond memories for you.
If you like to read, you may want to get Stephanie Storey?s novel, Oil and Marble about Michaelangelo and da Vinci creating David and Mona Lisa in the early 1500s.

A very well-written 5-7-5 poem about the eyes that scan afar while her smile brings magic feeling to everyone around in the room.

Thanks Sandra! I had the pleasure to have her glance my way twice in my life. The second time, with my teenage daughter, was the best.
