-Very nice photo; thanks
for sharing it and the poem.
-A very good poem about
how much this special ring
means to you.
-Good imagery and rhyme.
-You also tell a very good story
about how your parents came
to this country, and eventually
the ring was passed down to you.
-How wonderful that you were
able to wear it on your wedding day,
and that it will be there for your
daughter, too.
-A very good entry; good luck.

What a beautiful story of your mom's wedding ring. It held a lot of memories she made and now you've added to them too. A beautiful tradition. Did you know that years ago when if you didn't pay your bills, bill collectors could confiscate everything you owned to cover what you owed. But there was a law made that collectors could confiscate anything but they were not allowed to take their wedding rings. I believe it's still a law.
I enjoyed your poem. It's very well written.

What a beautiful tribute to the love your parents shared and the stories that have revolved around that ring. It is a symbol of eternal love and will be treasured for generations. Thank you for sharing these uplifting sentiments.

A lovely poem about a treasure possession that very well describes the background of the object and why it is treasured. I particularly like the second-to-last stanza.
Excellent poem!

Your poem tells a beautiful story with consistently executed rhyming of the continuity of love in your family. It moved me with its emotion and sense of background tragedy that became a good life, lived well, and a symbol of loyalty handed on through the generations.

This is lovely, a piece of history, your history, shows how one item of jewellery can mean so much, hold so many memories. hold. I wear my mothers wedding ring too. Simply beautiful.

This is a nice family heirloom full of romantic memories. Some happy some sad. It is usually the man who gives his mother's engagement ring. It is nice to see it go the other way.
Good luck with the prompt
Keep writing and stay healthy.

Dear Mystery Writer,

How sweet! I have some rings passed down to me by the ladies in my family and I never take them off. They are soooo special. A connection to people I loved a great deal and who meant a lot to me. *smile*

Though I enjoyed this piece very much and it spoke directly to my heart - yay! - I would like to offer a couple of suggestions to help with the scansion and flow?

Some notes:
1.) for miles on the waves.
--> for miles on (whipping) waves.

2.) My mom left England (far) behind,

3.) and all the memories it holds,
--> and all the mem'ries that it holds,

When I saw the title for this poem, I thought it was pretty smart and rather ingenious. Of course, a wedding ring would be something to write about! I liked this a lot. Thanks and good luck!

I love both the wording in your poem and the love the ring carries with it handed down from your Mom.
Your wording brings to the reader not only the love story but a warmth of family, love and sacrifice.
In an age where some want the biggest and shiniest ring thinking this shows love, a simple band of gold has more meaning.
Good work and good luck on the contest

I adored the sentiments here and I love the story too, such special memories of happiness in this little band of gold. The meter needs tweaking a little in places, but this is a great read, much enjoyed, love Dolly x
