What I liked about this was that in creating this moment of anxiety, this moment of self preservation in the face of a mass shooting, you pushed two people on opposite sides of the political spectrum together, and made the statement that our humanity and compassion for each other can overcome political doctrines that separate us. When facing bullets, its amazing how fast we drop the politics. estory

Thank you, for sharing a hero story. How he reacted to life situations. Being in a war taught him skills and gave him the courage, to help the people who were in the library.

A moment of extreme crisis can turn staunch enemies into comrades. I have account too numerous to count of white and black soldiers who entered a battle zone not really caring about or for each other who have had their lives saved by the heroic action of someone from another ethnicity and they emerge as newfound friends for life. It is real, and it happens this way more often that not.

I have long admired those who excel at this type of format. As far as writing it is concerned, it is not my thing at all, though I can see it would train one to be concise and not overly verbose.
The idea, that those politically non-aligned can be brought together in a crisis, is well drawn here in an age when this kind of incident no longer seems an impossibility.

Thank you. Believe me, it took a lot of practice to become so concise. But I'll call that a labor of love.

Quite a story--gripping--grabbed and held--skillful depiction of drama building--stunning ending. Gunfire in the Supreme Court? Fiction (so far). Cheers. LIZ

In spite of the horror of this scenario, there is something very comforting here. It this time when ideologies are at such odds, People can and do forget politics in times of need and come to the aid of each other. I like this.

I liked this write especially because in the middle of a real scary crisis people dig deep and find the very best in themselves, at least most of the time. Well done.

Great use of wording, guiding the reader through this thriller story. At the end, last two paragraphs closes roundly the story. Title suggests one person "wearing the clothes" of Justice, exactly where Justice is imparted...

Thanks. My titles generally don't run very deep. It is just the character's title.

You´re welcome, teols2016! I related title and story in a mix, where probably I should not, Good story!
Comment from Gloria ....
Excellent flash fiction and told in the tradition of flash pared down of all extraneous wording. It's good to have hope, and hopefully hope isn't fiction, because in the face of external and deadly fire it is hoped that people would stand beside each other in the face of adversity.
Wishing you much luck with the voters with this gem. :)

Wonderful story of grace, courage and integrity under fire -- these are the qualities we all want to see in our public officials, both elected and appointed, and they are also the qualities we must pray that God will bestow upon them, by His grace, in increasing measure. This would make our country and our world a better place for all of us.
