This is a beautiful contribution to this book, Dear! I love that you went with a contemplative style...it has a gentle soft atmosphere - one that gives a lot of room to the one who is going through a life altering turmoil - to breath and feel and find hope. No thunderous statements...just subtle hope. Lovely and very appropriate!
You start out showing the all encompassing effects of suffering through nature images:
"The flowers have lost their splendor,
The moon its glow."
The 'autumn' image is a wonderful reference to the transition from happier times to a colder one - and you show how this time impacts our memories and soul.
'But leaves in autumn will render
Our memories soft and tender."
Then you close the poem by showing how the impermanence is not permanent either. Love is beyond the boundaries of life and death.
Beautiful, sensitive message!

Thanks for the review, J. I appreciate your comments about my contribution to the book, and allowing readers to find a sense of hope. I am glad you liked the subtle approach; I think that is better than a thunderous one. Thanks for pointing out the various images you liked, and the reason for it, as well as the message. It means a lot.

Beautifully crafted piece with a heavenly piece of artwork, Pam. We recently spent over a week with rain and no sun from the gulf tropical storms and hurricanes. So happy to see and feel the love offered from above.'
God bless

Once Yvonne is strong enough to read this lovely poem, she will most likely cry. Your words are really comforting. I thought your first two lines, The flowers have lost their splendour, the moon its glow.' were sentiments that really are true. Nothing is ever the same anymore. Your poem is lovely, my friend. Well done. Sandra xx

Thanks for the review, Yvette. I appreciate your comments. This was not easy to write because words don't seem enough. That is when we rely on our heart. I appreciate the comments about offering solace and reassurance, as well.

What stunning little piece, which does read very much like a prayer or psalm. I love the way the poem is laid out as far as the rhyming goes, and pretty much everything about it. You combine the images of sadness and hope beautifully. I particularly like - "but leaves in Autumn will render our memories soft and tender."

Pam, your poem for Yvonne flows so beautifully. The comforting words are all about God's love, and are echoed in the soft pastel colors you used and the radiant image. The first two lines express your sympathy so well, and in the rest of the poem you are offering encouragement and reassurance. We will continue to pray that Jesus, the Prince of Peace, will just hold her and her family.

A beautiful poem! No matter what is going on in this world, we can always have comfort that the Lord loves us and the promise of everlasting life! I pray the turmoil going on these days gets solved soon.

Comment from Susan Louise Gabriel
This poem is a lovely tribute. It has an interesting end-rhyme scheme. I particularly liked this line: "Because that's Heaven's way to show that brighter light is up above." The concept that loss of leaves and other signs of autumn serve to underscore and contrast that loss with heaven's far greater brightness.
Well done!

Thanks for the review, Susan. I appreciate your comments about the tribute and sharing the line you liked, as well as the signs of autumn contrasted to heaven's brightness. I didn't say anything about the form, but is comes from Robert Frost's poem "Fire and Ice."
