This is for sure a poem of hope. I enjoyed the read and the courage to write your words. There are many 'ports in the storm' of addiction out there and I say that once a person finds their port, go there, do that, be well and create a fantastic life. :)

I enjoyed the way you brought the reader down with you to the brink of despair, only to accompany you on your journey of hope! The way you ended it is great, and I really liked this phrase - "And realize that life is yet
God's greatest gift of all" - it's very positive and does create the hope required by the contest rules.

I'm glad your hero did not give up. Things have been tough lately, and I hear sales of booze have gone through the roof. Life at the bottom of a bottle is no life at all, and it breaks my heart to see it happening so much. Good luck in the contest.
