Poems that rhyme and carry a rhythm are such a joy. This flows as easily as a song and the message hits as hard a bass drum. The genuine nature of the experience comes through clearly and engages. Great piece.

Great testimonial poem! Hope isn't really hope if everything is rosy. You described a time desperation and how ab encounter with God and His compassion made life all so worth it. Best wishes in the contest!

What a message! I found it very real as per the feelings described from inside. Good and different "touch" in creativity by starting and ending with the same sentence, differentiated in italics. Picture depicts a question like : Why me?, That expects an explanation which helps to move person outside of that "abyss".

Thank you for the lovely comments and appreciation of the duplicated beginning and ending of my poem. I had done this on an older piece of my writing and thought it would be an effective part of my poem on "Forsaken." I am so happy that you enjoyed this piece and want to thank you again for the wonderful review!

You`re very welcome! I see that first one is like incongruent with the situation, but as you continue reading, sense is building up. Last one, closes and round the subject nicely. Great idea!
Hope you the Best in coming contests!

Hello anonymous
Excellent entry for the poem of hope writing prompt contest. You wrote a poem about hope in your own unique way.
It reminded me of an AA prayer.... "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference."
Well done. Good luck in the contest.

A very well-written poem about finding hope when we choose to leave the path we find comfortable with and vow to renew our path away from sin to discover there is hope we didn't had before.

Thank you so much, dear Dolly, for this beautiful review. I had originally started this a few weeks ago for another writing prompt, but got side-tracked and missed the deadline. Your words of so kindly appreciated! Thank you once again!

This is a beautiful, creative, vividly descriptive piece about the most important experience one will ever have--meeting the Lord and getting saved. Yes, we believers still face challenges, hurts, etc., but we have Him to turn to.

I would hope that the author had found the one and only way out of this godforsaken realm of lostness. I can't commend you enough for this very stylish and articulate work, beautifully written, it is a credit to you, and although there was sadness woven your poem, there was also great hope, great ballad, well done, blessings Roy
