the sense of smell is the 1st connector with memories. The reader who has ever been around raked or burning leaves will sit in a daze remembering those days. We used to like to rake them so high that we could jump off our porch roof into the pile. Thank you.

Wow! That is a lot of leaves. Thanks for the cool image of jumping into a large pile. And thanks for the read and review.

Thanks for the read and the encouraging words.

Nice photo brings a memory of the family doing things together. In this case the typical autumnal task of raking the fallen leaves and setting fire to them. The smoke rising enhances the memory. Nicely done in 8 words!

Too bad we no longer can burn the leaves, but memories are good.
Thanks for the read and the review.

Why can't you burn the leaves? I live in a protected nature area in Mallorca, Spain. It means that we are not supposed (high fines!) between April and the half of October because of fire-danger. But after that, we can burn leaves and other garden waste like pruning twigs, etc. in our gardens freely.
-
Not allowed they say leave burning pollutes the air.
-
I don't think leaves pollute. But of course, it is NOT allowed to burn plastics, rubber, paint, etc.
-
According Purdue University: Burning leaves release irritants into the air that can cause respiratory problems and other health issues. ... Piles of burning leaves can also release carbon monoxide into the air, which is dangerous to everyone but especially for newborn infants and the elderly .
-
Thanks for telling me. I have a pile of garden rubbish waiting to be burned in October. Maybe I should dispose of it at the town's junk-yard.
-
At least in Arlington Heights, IL it is against the law to burn any waste, leaves included.
-
It's not against the law here, but when it is polluting the air, I don't want to burn it anymore.
-
You are a good person.
-
Ooooh! I don't know about that. But thank you, anyway.

That's nice. I love how your poem and image go together so perfectly. The message in your poem is wonderful. It's also nice that you have pleasant memories of raking leaves! I sure don't! Great job!

Too bad, we had great fun raking and throwing leaves at each other. Even Dad got into the action. Thanks for the read and feedback.
