This is the Lord's handiwork, visable for all to see. I was a crippled man for six years. I was reduced to a walker and a cane after being active in sports and martial arts for years. I cried out to the Lord and He heard me and delivered me out of all of my troubles. He directed me to a Christian surgeon who the Lord gave me new hips through. People will say it was the doctor in some cases. I know the one that will bring you through with angels watching and helping. I could have died on the operating table and so could you. Anything that works for our good is because the Lord allows it to. I can walk like anything now, exercising, etc. Thanks for sharing your testimony. I enjoyed reading this inspirational and well written work. To God be the glory! Well done!

Does not sound like fun at all. Falling does so much damage. I never fall, thank you Lord, but my sister... it is her national pass time. But she has never broken a bone, thank you Lord. Well done. Glad you are back to normal. Most of my friends would not consider that a good thing for me. =] Hope you do well in the contest.

This was a very uplifting, a bit humorous poem, of overcoming adversity. Loved your imagery and visuals and that picture.

No longer would I balk,
In 5k races I would walk,
With my hips rebuilt,
I'd get shirts for a quilt,
After much, blood, sweat, and tears,
I walked in 54 over two years,

I liked the humor of these, despite the sadness of the situation. Shows a true optimism (smile)

Easy rhymes and flow. This should do very well in the contest, I believe.

Hi Mystery Author,
Did this really happen to you? It's so awesome that you were able to overcome this trauma in your life, and actually enter 54 races in just 2 years! You went from a wheelchair to a walker, to crutches, to a cane. You even had to have surgery on your hips. Congratulations!
I ran almost 2000 miles between 2006 and 2012. Then I discovered my heart was skipping beats. After tests, the doctors determined I have a narrowed aortic valve in my heart. One of my hips is also in need of replacement, I guess. I stopped jogging for 6 years, but I missed it so much. I started some easy jogging last fall (2019). It felt so good! I used the treadmill at home through last winter, and into the early Covid-Schmovid days. And then I started jogging again. I've been walking 2 km and then jogging 2 km., and feeling a whole lot better. I feel the same as you... "The biggest reason to race,
Was to see the doctor's face,
But to be totally fair,
I owe it all to prayer."
My favorite line,
"All I did was stare,
At that dreaded wheelchair"

Good for you!!! Good Luck in the contest!
Cheers,
Kimbob

Very well done. The image is kind of cute you chose for your piece. The rhyme and rhythm were perfect for this poem. After all that struggle you cleverly credit prayer as what really helped you. Blessings. ~Brenda

I admire your determination to get out of that chair and walk again. Doctors should never tell people they won't walk again. They might believe it! Glad you didn't. Good for you. Best of luck in the contest.

A masterpiece/biographical verse; in simple down to earth vocabulary reflecting upon the poets courage and ending with a strong show of faith; good luck!
