Ciao poet! I gave you your 2nd vote.
For some reason when I read this poem Kirk , captain of the Enterprise came to mind.
In " The Naked Time" victim of a disease that makes the crew lose their emotional control..... Kirk confesses that despite, he yearns to have a lover in flesh and blood , perhaps Yoeman Rand
his mind and soul , his life are bound to his ship ..she, the Enterprise , his mistress has got under his skin....
It is a lonely life but ultimately, Kirk always picks the Enterprise over any woman he meets / likes.
PS.... " mistress of the sea " is also the term given centuries ago to the English navy to honour / highlight its supremacy over the oceans.

Tempeste,
I am always pleased with your support for my posts. Your Captain Kirk reference is a good example for his mistress of outer space.

That she most certainly is... but for many, she only whispers loudly at intermittent times... ;) A great contest offering for this extremely limited format contest -- thanx so very much for sharing and best of luck to you at the polls this evening! ;) :)

THANKS Mimi for your super support for my short 12-word contest entry. So pleased you enjoyed my phrasing choices. Luckily, my typical 5-7-5 format (which had been in preview) could be modified for this contest.
