I like the assonance of the long "i" and short "a" sounds. Those sounds fit so well in the song of the night and the calls made by the various creatures within it. It's no wonder you won. Congratulations.

Thanx so much, W.J. Gotta admit, I'm looking forward to finding some semblance of a 'normal routine' so that I can do more than the 'short contests'! ;) Take care up there and have a great Thursday! ;) Yvette

The writing prompt in itself is quite a challenge. I love the peaceful feel of this write. I think it is an excellent entry for the contest, good luck.

Ah, a perfect lantern, and so evocative -- no surprise it's a winner! Congratulations on a well-earned win, Yvette. When I can place myself in the scene, that's about as good as it gets. :)

Thanx so much for this one, my friend... up until now, I've really only found the time to keep my pen wet on the shorties... but I'm determined to make time for more soon!! ;) :) I need a bit of 'mundane' if that's even possible - ugh!! ;) Take care, you! ;) Yvette

Ugh. Me too. Not a problem for the actual writing, mind you -- it's the time wasted, waiting between windows here... *sigh!*

Perfect in so many ways. It was easy to sense the imagery of the poem, soft and subtle like coming dusk, billowing only softly only to close again as night gradually falls to close the day. Loren

A very well-written Lantern poem about dusk comes quickly and before we know it is dark outside and we need some light to see where we go when night finally falls.

Thank you so very much!!

A beautiful poem that fits the poetic structure perfectly. I particularly like the personification of dusk and how it comes "creeping in." The poem flows and is even attractive to look at!
Well done!

Perfect image and direct words to describe it. Evening, made me want to rest and reflect what I have done for the day. Looking forward for another new day and rest again after. Good luck!

"Evening", is short, succinct and very much to the point. With a minimum of words, this talented poet has told it as it is. It was a pleasure to both read and review, this talented poet's work. Good luck with the contest!
