The English language is 'replete' with a candy store of words, words that are like other words, words that sound like and look like other words and words that make no sense. Doing crosswords my whole life you either become intimately familiar with words and their counterparts or you buy easier puzzle books.
I love that you drained your thesaurus for a tribute to your thesaurus. This ode is brilliant and expertly crafted. I also liked your honorable mention of the dictionary. Nothing sticks out like misspelled or misused words.
Very well done author!

Thank you so much for the fantastic review and giant sixer, Lynda. I was at first going to try to go humorous with this but it took its own direction so I just went with it. I was never any good with crosswords. My mom liked them but they weren't my cup of tea. I just didn't have the brains. Lol. I dearly appreciate the big six, Lynda. I'm glad you liked the piece. Thank you again. I hope you have a great rest of your weekend and wonderful new start to your week.

This is a very well written "Ode Poetry" contest entry with a very good image (worn and referenced a lot).
Where would writers be without the thesaurus. It opens our mind to many new ways of expressing what we write.
Very well done.
Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest.

Well said. Those who are a part of this site can easily identify with your piece. What would we do without a thesaurus? You did a great job of using one in your piece. Thanks for posting.

I don't really have a thesaurus, but my wife does, but I can certainly see how you can value the use of it really, and it's worthy of your praise. Beautifully written sonnet, a credit to you. I've never seen a sonnet dedicated to a thesaurus before, but it still ticks all the boxes. Beautifully written in flowing pentameter and ababcdcdefefgg rhyming and great narrative, well done, blessings,
Roy

It's amazing the words you can learn just by looking at your thesaurus. Sadly, I think it has been neglected nowadays. Thank you for bringing it into the light

I confess I could not write without a thesaurus, so I applaud your ode to one. But you certainly find more uses for it than I do. A very witty sonnet I much enjoyed. Rod

I would normally find the elevated language a bit fanciful but I think it's apt to your subject and adds to the layers of the piece. Very well done, good luck in the contest. Later daze.
