Okay, yes, I totally went down your portfolio to look for more serious pieces :)...and here it is.
(Don't mute me! :)
This one was a LOT of work...avoiding all the usual turn of phrases, that make all the 'pretty poetry' (you talked about earlier) boring. "Pretty' is missing depth - but this is meaningful, carefully crafted, with so much focus and diligence! I truly adore what you did with this topic.
Celebrating the fun little accidents of finding an awesome word while looking for something else:
"Where sweet vicissitude gives precious aid"
The diversity of words:
"And versatile its offering in trade
Reciprocation fosters the diverse"
And the subtle differences between word choices:
"While subtle changes complement in verse
With every nuance eagerly explored"
And for good measure (and turn) you put in some appreciation for the dictionary, as well :)
This is fun, it does have a subtle humor, but mostly and extremely well crafted piece that lives as it preaches :).
You do have an awesome poetic range, Ron!
Yes, you prefer to go with silly - which I adore because I love joining in - and at the same time you totally nail all the serious poems, too.
I very much appreciate the whole range you bring!
(And I hope you didn't take my earlier review as an attempt to get you to write more romantic/serious poems. I appreciate everything you bring)

Thank you so much for the fantastic review and giant sixer, Jyoti. At first, I was actually going to go with humor on this one but after finding most of the words, I decided to go serious with it. You are correct, a lot of work went into this one. That's what I like to do when writing serious stuff is challenge my brain. Besides getting a laugh out of all this, I like the challenges and contests. The brain always needs a good workout here and there. Lol.
I would never 'mute' you. That's really the only way to find better stuff I've written, is to go searching through my portfolio. I have a few good ones down there somewhere. Lol.
I was wondering how I was going to be able to get a turn in there then came up with the dictionary idea. Ha.
I'll get romance in there sometimes. Have no fear. I just need to be in the mood. That's how all my stuff comes, how I'm feeling at the time. And sometimes that mood is romantic. Lol.

Congratulations on the win - looks like you swallowed a thesaurus too (I've just written a poem with big words in it as well.) Your sonnet has a nice old-time feel to it to go well with the illustration.

This poem was fun. Some readers mayhave to look up some of these words. I find the thesaurus in my memory bank is so extensive that the retrieval is slower; so now I go to my short cut or tab for Thersaurus.com. Then everything goes smoothly. Well planned out.
